The month of May has been a fruitful and enriching one for the center and the students. A number of initiatives have been taken to make reach out to those students who have not benefited from the services offered at Loyola Campus- Puthukkudiyiruppu.
Despite the efforts taken, there is a poor response from the students in following English and Computer courses during the new term. The Centre has made a number of attempts at the local churches and schools to welcome students to follow courses. Although it is sometimes discouraging, the Centre and the staff still hopes to engage positively and offer more for those in and around Puthukkudiyiruupu. The classes for children in the evenings have improved. After a number of reminders, the children regularly attend the classes. A number of new students also have joined the evening classes.
‘TALENTS DAY 2018’ was a special programme organized by Loyola Campus- Puthhukkudiyiruppu on 26 May 2018. The programme included a number of competitions from speech, dictation, dance etc. There were four teams who participated during the competitions: the Roman Catholic School of Puthukkudiyiruppu, Central College Puthukkudiyiruppu, Madhiya Maha Vidyalayam of Iranapalai and Loyola Campus- Puthukkudiyiruppu. There were around 100 students who came over and took part in various events. The center feels happy and encouraged that this event has provided an opportunity for many students to know the Centre. It is hoped that this event will encourage the students not only to learn English at the Centre but also to learn other skills for life.
