Sowing the Seeds for a Peaceful World

isuranga.jpgPeace is a source where the whole life on earth depends. A slight argument, disagreement will lead the whole world to danger. Peace depends on the diplomatic relations of politicians as well. A decision of the political leaders can turn the world into a war-zone.

It is difficult to maintain peace, but war can be made easily. Almost all the religions try to cultivate the seed of peace but there are groups who try to grow the weeds of war to gain special rewards. Anger, Hatred, Jealousy are threats to peace.

In my point of view, peace is a virtue that should be cultivated within the families. The core of the society is the family. If we can change the attitudes of the family, if we encourage peace and harmony in that small unit we can prosper with peace in the whole society.

In my aspect peace is a value connected to so many other values. Love, unity, the ability to accept one’s own mistakes and understand each other are essential to maintain peace. The reason why I highlighted the above values is because of the inter-relationship. Love enhances unity, sharing and caring among people. When the bond among people is strengthened, maintaining peace becomes easy. Acceptance of one’s own mistakes and understanding each other reduces the possibility of conflicts.

The main cause for aggression and breaking of peace treaties in today’s context is the political strategies of governments. The greediness for power, the need to control others is the main problem which disturbs peace. In my point of view all governments should be responsible in regard with the issue of peace.

Having reflected on peace, I would like to say maintaining peace is the best weapon which we can use against war. Peace is the key either to nourish or to perish the human race. I would like to conclude using a small quote by Menachem Begin ‘‘Peace is the beauty of life. It is sunshine. It is the smile of a child, love of a mother, the joy of a father, the togetherness of a family. It is the advancement of man, the victory of a just cause, the triumph of truth”.
